Day 20 - 23/7

Day 20 - 23/7

Today we have a blog from Lucas (Brazil) and Melis (Turkey).

Lucas from Brazil:

Hi! I'm Lucas from Brazil and I'm going to tell you what happened last Thursday. We woke up as usual (8am) but when we went to had breakfast, the leaders had chosen 12 people to be “rich” (only during that day) and the others were “poor” (I was one of the poor people).

The “rich” people had a table only for them and they could eat everything they want. They had Nutella, jam and everything. And all we (the poor people) had was bread with butter and water and we had to sit on the floor.

At the cleaning time, only the poor people had to clean while the rich people were playing outside.

After the cleaning group we had to wait outside the activity room (“the factory”) and when we got inside the factory we had to find our name on the floor sit for 3 hour making bracelets without talking while the rich people was outside playing games.

After making many bracelets we had lunch. The rich people had pasta and the “poor” people had soup. After that we had siesta and the “poor” people had to stay all the time in their own room. In activity 3 the leaders announced the end of this simulation and we had a debriefing about the tema.

Then, after shower time we had activity 4 and it was the Portuguese National Night. They made a typical party called “Festa Junina”. Then we had lullabies and went to bed.

Melis from Turkey:

Hello everyone! I am Melis. I will write about yesterday. When I woke up, I saw that all the leaders were wearing black. Thus, I understand that it was the rich and poor day. During the flag time there were three different circles: rich people, poor people and the others. I was the poor one. During the day all the leaders and staff were so rude to the poor people. For example, even though the room was clean, we cleaned it three times. On the other hand, rich people were not doing cleaning all the day. While we were doing cleaning, the rich people were having fun in the arts and crafts room. After that leaders took us in the activity room. They told us that activity room was a bracelet factory. During two hours I just sat down and did bracelets. During the lunch we were allowed to eat only soup with pasta in it. On the other hand, rich people were having a very good meal. During siesta time poor people were not allowed to go down stairs.
