Day 27 - 30/7

Day 27 - 30/7

Today we have a blog from Nathalie and Anne (kitchen staff).

Nathalie from the kitchen staff:

X things happening in the kitchen and you do not know ....

We have a sauna-hammam...
Simply wipe the dishes near the dryer outlet... hot and humid... and occasionally, we have to reach out for a cup stuck in the dishwasher.
We actually experimented different ways of arranging those damned cups to keep them in the right direction and not standing upside down and filled with water after pranced like crazy in the machine-sauna-hammam.

We have several specialists in the organizing.
There are those who manage menu adjustments and managing the shopping, those who manage the different ways of serving 2,500 rolls we received (Thanks to the generous donor!) and those who know the art of recycling leftovers and compliance regimes (pork-free, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free)
There is the one who decides to take advantage of a sudden pleasure of peeling garlic flakes and bursting all pods and peel all, and "It's good until the end of the camp!"
And those who enjoy, daily, to cut parsley in very small pieces. (Meanwhile chasing some millipedes with parsley boots we use daily in the kitchen)

Some "guests" are extras!
The special guest for the championship potato peelings (thank you to Anne's mum).
The specialist of... Norwegian stew (thank you Robert).
The discreet, sometimes dreamy yet effective and always ready to give a hand (Alberto ;-) )
And others... but there... I do not know them all...

There may be someone who comes to help and who begins to sing "in tune" with the pots and the pans...
At times, there are three guitarists in the kitchen staff, perhaps we do not sing all the time, but the joy and good humor prevail, no room for a grumpy smurf in the kitchen... but you already knew that.

Anne from the kitchen staff:

Greetings from the Kitchenstaff

We were very happy to cook for you because you respected our work and a smile or a "thank you" meant very much and gave us the energy to continue.

We tried to make our menu in function of your national day. Sometimes the leaders helped us to find a recipe.

Every day of the week we bought the ingredients so the fresh vegetables and meat arrived  in the morning. When you saw us around 10 am we were already imagining how to prepare the dishes. Making food for 75 people is a challenge.

A special thank you for all the helpers who came one or more days. Without them the hugh kitchen wouldn't be so clean and tidy.

Here you can find the menu:  Every lunch,  Christine made us the most delicious soup. We choose the deserts in function of the weather; fruit, cookies, cakes for the birthdays, cream, waffles, Belgian donuts.
